Information Guidelines for Authors

These guidelines are to be used when submitting cases for the Academy website or certifying examination.  Cases may be chosen for the OSCE portion of the Academy Certification Diplomate Examination given by the Chiropractic Coalition (Academy, the Council of Chiropractic Orthopedists and the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists).  The Academy will give 6 credit hours of re-credentialing credit for each case accepted for the website or for the certification examination.  The Coalition realizes the many cases that are seen in our offices on a daily basis.  These are valuable for teaching and learning, this is practical orthopedics.  With this information, candidates can be assured that these are real scenarios that have been treated in chiropractic orthopedists offices.  We ask for your support in the revitalization and growth of chiropractic orthopedics.

Guidelines and an outline to help you with this process are present below. You can send the completed case(s) to the Academy at the following address:

          Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists
          P.O. Box 400
          Norwalk, IA  50211–0400

E-mail cases may be sent to Dr. Jerrold Wildenauer, Academy Executive Director, at drjerrywil@aol.com.

Post Graduate Orthopedics

Outline for Submitting Clinical Cases

Examination Development

To all participants who wish to submit clinical cases for Post Graduate Orthopedic Diplomate Examination development and the website please review this outline.

It is important that we gather as many common clinical chiropractic cases from all avenues within the chiropractic profession and especially from the specialty areas in chiropractic orthopedics.  This includes our chiropractic colleges, post graduate departments, chiropractic practices and individual instructors teaching post graduate programs.

Please refer to the outline (which is in Microsoft Word format) that is attached for gathering the needed information about the case you wish to submit. Some items may be normal, not performed or not applicable, however state this in each area listed. For those areas that have information about the case, please be as descriptive as possible when transferring the data from the patient’s file to the attached form.

Please remember that we need the best copies of the x-rays or digital photographs to be submitted with the case. These will not be returned.

Submit all information to:

The Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists
P.O. Box 400
Norwalk, IA 50211-0400

Any questions at all about providing information please e-mail the Academy at: presjrb@dcorthoacademy.com.

You may submit multiple choice questions; they will be reviewed by the Examination Committee’s Delphi groups for the Academy’s specialty Diplomate examination. Once they are received the author’s name is removed and they enter our pool of questions. Each question must have only ONE correct answer. Reference/source is required. Questions must include only orthopedic, neurological, rehabilitation, advanced imaging, record keeping and patient treatment. Please attend the Academy item writing classes that will be given at the upcoming American College of Chiropractic Orthopedics Symposium in Orlando, FL.  This conference is May 27- 30, 2004. The Academy urges your participation in this process.

All information sent must be HIPAA compliant.
