Good Evening Fellows,
I'm pleased to announce the Academy Diplomate examination on September 29, 2012 has produced 6 new orthopedic Diplomates. The examination went smoothly and credit is due to Drs. Wildenauer and Wicks. The new Diplomates performed very well in all categories. Welcome Fellows!
The Examination Committee has informed me that they would like a general announcement for a call of written Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) cases. These are used for the practical portion of the Diplomate examination. If you are interested in adding to the examination pool. Send me an e-mail at www.dcorthoacademy.com with your interest. I and Dr. Wicks will respond to you about what type of cases are needed and how to proceed. This is a great opportunity to help the Academy and earn credits towards voluntary recertification with the Academy.
The next Diplomate examination will be held Fall 2013 at Northwestern Health Sciences University. The date has not been set, but look for late September or early October as a probable date. If you have a friend or colleague that has the necessary criteria to sit the Board let them know and ask them to contact Dr. Wildenauer with their interest.
We have a new sponsor on the Academy website. Northwestern Health Sciences University is advertising the new Master of Science: Clinical Chiropractic Orthopedics. The Masters is in Clinical Chiropractic Orthopedics and there is an opportunity for a sub specialty in Sports/Rehabilitation, Geriatrics/Pediatrics and Occupational Chiropractic Medicine. If you visit the website (http://www.nwhealth.edu/) and then click on "College of Graduate Sciences" you will find the necessary information.
In an cost saving effort, the Academy is now using "Go To Meeting" for all its Board meetings and Academy committee meetings. This effort assures you, the members, that dues will remain stable. Drs. Skibsted and Lomardi have informed me that membership has continued to increase and that membership is at an all time high for the Academy. Thank you all and we will strive to continue to make your membership worthwhile. We take nothing for granted.
The Academy continues to receive inquires about members being certified as orthopedists and recertification status. We cannot verify a Diplomate is certified if they are not a member of the Academy. Governmental, military, judicial and insurance inquires are the most common.
The Academy has authorized a request and sent an orthopedic cash grant to the Canadian Chiropractic Orthopedic group. The Academy has many members from this group. They have had some headwinds with the Canadian government and have had some hoops to jump through. The grant will be used to help fulfill these requirements. Thanks to Drs. Stan Bacso, Shawn Henderson and Rocco Guerriero for their effort. These doctors as well as the CCO(C) membership are doing yeoman's work.
The Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists is an international organization. There soon will some additions and changes to our international representatives as well as duties. This may include Fellows and/or geographical areas. The tenants of chiropractic orthopedics transcends boarders and political venues. With internet and social media outlets, we are able to expand and involve more Fellows and Diplomates around the world.
Please do not forget to upgrade your bio-page in the Academy membership directory. I have used the directory to recommend other doctors to send patients as well as my own to Fellows. It's helpful if you have some data about your practice. This website membership benefit is a great asset for you. Fix it up for potential referring doctors.
Now is a good time to be thinking about the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists symposium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The dates are April 25-27, 2013. It will be at the newly updated Tropicana Hotel. Room rates, speakers and additional information will be forthcoming. Stay well and prosperous.
The greater the obstacle the more glory in overcoming it.....Moliere
