OBJECTIVE

The voluntary re-credentialing of Fellows of the Academy as Chiropractic Orthopedic specialists.

ELIGIBILITY

Fellow status in the Academy must be current and in good standing, and be maintained throughout the certification period.

Non-fellows of the Academy are ineligible for this track toward re-credentialing.

BENEFITS OF RE-CREDENTIALING

  1. Maintenance of educational standards.

  2. Meeting requirements for managed care or other entities.

  3. Documenting specialty status in medico-legal environment.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM

Participation in this program provides re-credentialing of a board or Academy certified chiropractic orthopedist for a period of three years, and is accomplished by the requirements listed below.

REQUIREMENTS FOR RE-CREDENTIALING

Completion of any of the following during the three years prior to re-credentialing (total of 36 approved hours is required):

  1. Continuing education orthopedic (or related specialty equivalent) classes presented by a CCE approved college or university.
    a.   Distance learning is acceptable on confirmation
    b.   On-line credits from some non-college providers may be accepted

  2. Attendance (36 hours) at an orthopedic conference, convention, or seminar sponsored by a CCE approved institution. Only hours pertinent to orthopedic practice will be approved.
    a.   American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists (ACCO)
    b.   Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics (CCO of ACA)
    c.   Other entities may be approved on submission of documentation

  3. Postgraduate chiropractic orthopedic instructors receive one credit-hour for each hour of non-duplicated class instruction.

  4. Publication of a pertinent article in a peer-reviewed journal (12 hours).

  5. Publication of a case study in the E-Journal of the Academy (4 hours).

  6. Presentation of a paper at the annual Academy Presentation of Papers (8 hours).

  7. Participation as a Delphi committee member in the Academy examination process (3 hours).

  8. Other venues may be considered for acceptable hours on an individual basis, dependent on approval of program material and presentor.

Re-credentialing for Academy Fellows is for a three year period upon completion of the above listed requirements. The fee for this re-credentialing is $105.00, non-refundable.

Documentation of completed re-credentialing requirements must be submitted to the Academy with the re-credentialing form, and accompanied by the appropriate fee. Completion of re-credentialing requirements during the previous four (4) years leading to your initial re-credentialing date will be accepted.

Information on Academy re-credentialing status will be submitted to ACCO and CCO for publication in their respective directories.

Fellows who complete re-credentialing will be furnished a certificate attesting to the re-credentialed status.

Chiropractic Orthopedists who demit from their Fellow status with the Academy will automatically be removed from the re-credentialed rolls.
