Who Is Certified?
While many doctors of chiropractic (DC) prepare for careers in private practice, teaching, or research many choose additional education and training in a specialty field and pursue specialty certification. Practicing orthopedic specialists (Diplomates) hold specialty board certification. Diplomates that are members of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists and are in good standing are titled Fellows of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (FACO).
The Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists maintains a recertification process (3 year cycle) available for Fellows of the Academy, to provide an ongoing program for maintaining clinical competency in the specialty of chiropractic orthopedics.
